The architects for a residential refurbishment in London NW8 (Dols Wong Architects) had the great idea of using a combination of black steel sliding doors and partitions. The steel was used to divide large open spaces and create additional rooms whilst ensuring that the home had as much natural light running through it as possible.
The W20 steel profile is mainly designed for hinged doors, fixed light and windows (Side Hung, Top hung and Centre pivot windows). However, it was not designed to be used as a sliding door. This means that every steel sliding doors we make is a fully bespoke product. We customise the steel profile to accommodate sliding door gear and we select robust fixings that can take the weight of a steel door and glazing.
It is all in the detail
On visiting the property it is clear that thought and time was put into the design of the home. The steel partition returns 90 degrees and creates a great looking divide between the hallway and the study. Apart from being a beautiful design feature, this corner allows for light to flood the study from both the front and rear of the house. This results in a bright ground floor and a great sense of space.
All our partitions come with 6mm tempered safety glass as standard.

As a final note, we must give credit to the main contractor on this project, Eddy. This site has to be the most accurate site in terms of dimensions across the whole property. When it came time to take site measurements, Eddy had openings prepared to within 1 (maybe 2mm MAXIMUM) over a span of 5-6 metres. WOW!
